Ben Nevis is Britain's highest mountain and, paradoxically, one of the easiest to climb. That doesn't mean it is easy to find your way off the summit though! Often shrouded in cloud with a thick covering of snow, there are may gullies waiting to suck in the unwary. However, with enough remaining snow you can be assured of the longest bum-slide of the year (Always the best reason for carrying an emergency survival bag)!
Glen Nevis is breathtakingly beautiful, what more can I say? The walk
from the car park passes through woods, up a gorge with fascinating water
erosion, and finally out onto the flat where you are confronted by a
magnificent waterfall.
25-27 January 2002The CIC hut is superbly positioned half way up the north face of Ben Nevis and so is ideal for winter climbers. You will need map Landranger 41, or Outdoor Leisure 38. |
