Glen Etive and Glencoe

Glen Etive and Glencoe are distinct, neighbouring glens but grouped together on this page as meets to Glen Etive often involve trips to mountains in Glencoe.

Glencoe is a spectacular glen with a veritable cornucopia of potential top routes.

Glen Etive is in a spectacular location, surrounded by mighty mountains on all sides except the down the loch, out to the sea. However, felling by the foresty commission has produced some unsightly areas of stumps.

The day trip to Glencoe will enable the ascent of classic mountains such as Buchaille Etive Mor with its views across the bleak Rannoch Moor as well as down the glens Etive and Coe. Other mountains include Buchaille Etive Beag, Bidean nam Bian, Stob Coire Sgreamhach, and the Aonach Eagach. In the unlikely event of rain you can chill out in the Clachaig or King's House inns!
